Tumacácori

We spent the afternoon at Tumacácori, a Jesuit, and later, Franciscan missionary. I was so impressed with P&B’s level of interest regarding the history of the land, the various tribes, missionaries, and the intersections of cooperation and conflict. We even covered a little bit of math by figuring out how many years ago certain events occurred. the park Ranger, Ranger Rick was our favorite Ranger thus far on the trip.

The most notable part of Tumacácori, the church which took 20 years to build.
P is so enthused about earning her junior Ranger badge at each park and B has started to share that enthusiasm.
The kids try their hand at grinding grains using a metate, a stone tool used to process grains

  1. Junior ranger programs are so great! What an amazing experience you are giving the kids. My three just earned their badges from smoky mountain National park.. fun!
