As lovely as Arizona is, it was beginning to feel like The Hotel California. Between fine tuning our RV for long-term travel, buying a jeep, acclimating the kids to learning on the road, and Phil getting into his RV office groove, we just couldn’t seem to make it beyond Tucson. We were going to try and do this trip without a tow along car but after a week, we realized a jeep would allow us much more freedom to explore the places Festina Lente simply can’t get to. Thanks to Phil’s handyman skills, he pieced together what would have been a $5,000 towing system (with installation) to a $900 outfit. All it took was a trip to a pawnshop in south Tucson and a trailer park outside Phoenix and we were ready to hit the road!
By default, Festina is a slow traveler. Now, towing a jeep, she’s even slower. We journeyed from Phoenix to Hurricane, Utah on Friday to meet Pearl, Kyle, and C on some spectacularly beautiful BLM land outside Zion. It was so wonderful to reunite with them and magical memories were made.
